Renowned saxophonist and flautist Mthunzi Mvubu takes to the Jazz in the Native Yards stage to perform music from his acclaimed debut album The 1st Gospel and selections from his forthcoming release.

Mvubu leads an all-star ensemble of South African jazz artists — S’phelelo Mazibuko (drums), Reza Khota (guitar), and Sean Sanby (contrabass) — each a formidable recording musician in their own right. Together, they deliver a sound that is both contemplative and fiery, bridging the lineage of South African jazz with a global spiritual sensibility.
