Dr. Sheena Mathew is a Specialist Family Physician, who completed her 4-year Family Medicine speciality at the University of Stellenbosch and her medical degree at the University of Witwatersrand. Dr Mathew has over 20 years of medical experience, having worked in both the public and private sector and is currently based in private practice in Blouberg. She is affiliations as an SAAFP (South African Academy of Family Physicians) Director and Chairperson of Specialist Family Physicians In Private (SFPP). She has a deep passion for teaching and education, which she brings to her role as an honorary senior lecturer at UCT Family Medicine department for the post-graduate training of Family Medicine registrars. The Specialist Family Physician training entails a 4-year post-graduation training in Family Medicine, with rotations through 10 clinical domains (Internal medicine, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Obstetrics and gynaecology, Emergency medicine, Anaesthetics, Orthopaedics, ENT/Dermatology/Opthalmology, Orthopaedics). This unique training makes the Specialist Family Physician unrivalled in their ability to provide comprehensive care for the whole family, whilst still overseeing personalized care for the individual.
