Genevieve and Milo are a medicine/folk music duo based in Cape Town, South Africa. Combining Genevieve’s rich vocals with Milo’s vibrant percussion, their music seeks to inspire a deeper connection to the Earth and to ourselves. Raised by the icey Atlantic Ocean and the expansive wilderness of the Cape, the heart of their music was formed from a deep connection to nature. Both sorrowful and uplifting, each song is a message from the heart, the story of our healing, and a call to return to the spirit of nature. Blending influences from South America, Africa and their ancestral Celtic roots, each song is a journey into the quietness of the heart, to find solace in song. The duo was formed organically between two friends, Genevieve Lee and Milo Sun. Genevieve is a vocalist and song writer, a student of nature and a hand weaver. During her time studying opera at the University of Cape Town, she became enthralled with traditional folk songs and sacred music. Her songwriting has evolved from this love for old song and indigenous wisdom. Milo Sun is a multi-instrumentalist specialised in African percussion. As a child he heard the ancient rhythms of the African drums, blended with influences of cultures throughout his travels and the textures of nature, the soundscapes he creates are inspired by these sounds and people.
