Tracy Chapman’s music has been an influence on many people throughout the decades, starting with her self-titled album released in 1988, containing huge hits such as “Fast Car”, Talkin’ bout a Revolution” and “Baby can I hold you, tonight?”
Her emotion filled songs, covering topics such as love, heart break, life in an unjust society and the struggle of the lower socio economic classes are heart rendering, and remain relevant to this day, across the globe.
With her recently received LifeTime Achievement Award for her contribution to Folk Music, as well as “Fast Car” once again topping billboard charts across the United States after being covered by Luke Combs on his latest country album, her music and contribution to the music industry have once again been brought to the attention of the world.
36 years after its release, this is an absolutely phenomenal achievement!
Tracy’s music has been a huge influence on local artist, Claire Venn, and she, together with band mates Andrew Warneke and Russel Sneyd, have put together a heartfelt tribute to this music icon.
With Andrew’s unique and melodic style of bass playing, Russel’s perfectly timed percussion and hauntingly beautiful harmonies, they are the perfect fit to Claire’s emotive vocals and folk style guitar playing.
The trio present an intimate tribute to Chapman’s music in a story teller style show.
Come and enjoy the show with us in the cozy atmosphere at MacFee !
