Celebrate Heritage Month with one of South Africa’s most iconic musical voices—Hilton Schilder—as he unveils his historic 46th studio album, Crooks and Nannies, live on 23 September, the eve of Heritage Day.
As a seminal figure in Cape jazz, Schilder’s remarkable legacy spans over four
decades.
He co-founded The Genuines in the 1980s with Mac McKenzie, blending Goema,
punk, reggae, and improvisational jazz rooted in Cape Heritage Mail & Guardian
He also spearheaded influential ensembles such as African Dream, Iconoclast, and performed with Sons of Table Mountain under Robbie Jansen in the 1990s Wikipedia. His solo recordings began with No Turning Back (2003) and include notable works such as Elements of Surprise (2007), Future Cape as RockArt (2006), and collaborative projects across genres—clarifying his evolution across more than 40 albums Wikipedia.
