The Cape Town Concert Series brings its 70th year to a thrilling close with music from 17th and 18th century Latin America and Spain. Salsa Baroque is a collaboration with the Cape Town Baroque Orchestra and singers of Lutesong Consort and features Canadian recorder and baroque flute virtuoso, Matthias Maute.

Join a dazzling journey where baroque music from the Old World meets the vibrant rhythms of the New World. Salsa Baroque celebrates the fusion of European polyphony with the infectious dances of Latin America, born from the meeting of Spanish, African, and indigenous traditions. From the lively chaconas and jácaras of Spain to the spirited villancicos of Mexico and Bolivia, this program bursts with energy, colour, and rhythmic vitality.

The concert starts at 11am in the Baxter Concert Hall. The Baxter Bar and restaurant are open before and after and you are welcome to take your morning coffee into the hall to enjoy with the concert.
