Footprints to Freedom brings the children of the UCT Saturday Morning Music Outreach Programme and their teachers on the stage in a journey of storytelling, music, and dance. It immerses audiences in umcimbi, a traditional ceremony celebrating indigenous knowledge, community, and cultural belonging and ignites a Freedom Festival capturing the joy of self-expression. As it moves from conflict to reconciliation, it closes with “Not Yet Uhuru,” reminding audiences that freedom is a continuing journey carrying forward the footprints of those who came before, toward peace and unity.
