Friday Night Live is a series of beautiful, intimate performances from some of the most exciting talent Cape Town and South Africa has to offer, hosted at the KAYA Café. Friday Night Live is an event for performers to take in their own direction, creating an environment for audiences to engage deeply with the music, the meaning, and the people behind it all.

Year of Dogs is everyone’s favourite canine-loving, indie-groove-pop band from Cape Town. Known for their playful and loving approach to life, the group captured the attention of critics and casual listeners alike with the release of their debut EP, Pavement Special, in 2021. They would go on to become a staple of local indie music, routinely performing alongside acts like Jeremy Loops, Matthew Mole, BCUC, Desmond & the Tutus, and Shortstraw. However, after embarking on new adventures in 2023, the band entered a semi-hiatus - yet, every so often, they reunite for ‘one last show’ before saying bone-voyage for another while.

In this special family show, the evening will be opened by Nic van Graan (Y.O.D. lead vocalist & guitarist) playing a set of his solo work, and closed out by the incredibly smooth live electronic creations of Audessey (Dillon (Y.O.D. bassist) and Themba (Y.O.D. guitarist)’s electronic project).
