Citizens of Ulunation, wamkelekile nonke! Karibuni nyote! Welcome dear ones, to Ulunation’s latest juicy offering: Ulunation: the Birthday Edition!
Hosting a saucy little line-up of Cape Town’s latest established and up-and- coming Afro-Tech and Afro-House artists at a fresh new venue, the oh-so- elegant and intimate Biblio, this one promises to be a real treat for the ear buds. “What’s so tasty about this one?” we hear you say? Well, it’s none other than Ulunation co-founder Gàlo’s Birthday Bash! So expect no less than warm vibes, jubilant journeys and a lit up celebration, as Ulu’s artists only drop their full flavours and leave it allllllllll on the dance floor….. Ulelelelele!
Line up: Stree Deejay, Nwabzin, Klangjunky, Twoburner, De_Mpora, DJ Stone, and Gàlo
The evening kicks-off with a 7pm-9pm rooftop pre-party to whet your appetite for the festivities to come. Pull-in to make friends and grab a few special “happy hour” cocktails, courtesy of Biblio.
9pm until late sees the party moving downstairs to the “Library” into a capsule of elegance wrapped up by the likes of DJs (aa, bb and cc) to take us on a body-awakening listening-journey, flowing through the genres of Afro- Tech, Afro-House and - what Ulu has coined for Gàlo inimitable style - “the House that wakes the Ancestors” or, Ancestral House.
As always, we sound the call: come, come to the healing home of the rising stars of Afro-Electronic music and those who love them to celebrate no less than birth of life itself.
About Ulunation: ULUNATION is a collective-run event and Afro House / Tech experience. A home for friendship, afro electronic music and elated dance, presented by a community of dancers, DJs and afro electronic enthusiasts transforming club culture by creating safe, warm gathering spaces for Cape Town music lovers to dance, connect and release. To ululate means: “a sound resembling a howl, frequently used to express strong emotions like grief, joy, or celebration” and nation meaning to us “a body of people united by common values and culture. In other words, ULUNATION is a united group of people who come together to express joy, grief and everything in between with elated dance and afro electronic music. Celebration. Care. Collaboration.
