From the passion and sensuality of Monteverdi, Handel and Britten to the timeless romance of Vaughan Williams and Prokofiev’s electrifying Romeo & Juliet, this is a programme where great love stories meet great music. At its heart is the world premiere of Iain Bell’s How May I Call my Love?, a premiere that adds to the journey through love, longing and timeless song.
Kamal Khan is an internationally acclaimed Indian-American conductor and pianist who has worked with leading opera companies from the Metropolitan Opera to Cape Town Opera. He was Director of UCT’s Opera School and has played a major role in developing South African singers for international careers. Lebanese-American tenor Karim Sulayman is a Grammy Award-winning artist acclaimed for his expressive musicianship, elegant voice and compelling stage presence. An adventurous performer, he moves effortlessly between opera, recital, chamber music and innovative contemporary projects on major international stages.
