RACHMANINOFF’S SECOND
Sibelius and Rachmaninoff collide in a programme of Nordic fire and Russian passion. From Pohjola’s Daughter to the soaring Second Piano Concerto and triumphant Fifth Symphony, expect music that thrills, moves and lingers. Finnish conductor Pietari Inkinen is internationally acclaimed for his expressive artistry and exceptional technical mastery, having conducted many of the world’s leading orchestras. A noted authority on Sibelius and Wagner, he has also led major opera productions, including Wagner’s Ring at the Bayreuth Festival. Russian pianist Polina Osetinskaya is acclaimed for the extraordinary depth, intelligence and emotional intensity of her performances.
A compelling interpreter of both the classical repertoire and contemporary music, she appears on major international stages and is recognised for her distinctive artistic voice.
There is a pre-concert talk at 18:45 open to concertgoers.
