The annual Band Extravaganza will take place on Saturday 27 April at 3pm in the Endler Hall. The University of Stellenbosch Symphonic Wind Band will share the stage with Wynberg Progress Christmas Band, the South African College High School Concert Band

Participating bands from the southern suburbs are the Wynberg Progress Christmas Band, a community band, conducted by Department of Music student, Cody Constable, the South African College High School Concert Band, conducted by Levi Alexander and Wynberg Boys’ and Girls’ High School Concert Band conducted by Peter Catzavelos.

From the Northern Suburbs we have Bellville High School Symphonic Wind Band under the baton of Riaan van Wyk and Durbanville High School Wind Band conducted by Suretha Theron. From Paarl, we have the Concert Band of Paarl Boys High School, Suonare, under the baton of Reghardt Kühn. The Stellenbosch University Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Concert Band will be conducted by Pamela Kierman, Reghardt Kühn and Bridget Rennie-Salonen respectively.

The morning of the concert will also feature a Flute Fundraiser for the purchase of an alto flute for the Department of Music’s newly formed Flute Ensemble.
