About Khanyisile NgwenyaShe became one of the runners up at the Jive Funny Championship in 2024, which afforded her the opportunity to perform at the Jive Comedy Festival at The Baxter Theatre in June 2024. In 2025, she was one of the 20 Savanna Newcomer’s that performed, leading her to be nominated for an award. In April 2025, she became the winner of the Savanna Newcomer which has now been named, the Eb Award. She has opened for Dillan Oliphant and was part of the Yaaseen Barnes’ show where she performed alongside Riaad Moosa and Joe Barber in 2024.
Born, bred, and buttered in Soweto, Khanyisile Ngwenya may be physically brittle due to being diagnosed with Osteogenesis Imperfecta at birth. However, her unbreakable spirit pushed her to finally jump onto the stage and start telling jokes in December 2020. Since then, she’s performed around the country, opening for some of the biggest names in South African comedy and has been crowned the ‘Newcomer of the Year’ at the Savannah Comic’s Choice Awards in 2025. Now Khanyisile takes centre stage to tell her story in the first showing of her Work-in-Progress solo show, A Tall Story. Her comedy explores disability, sex, family, our society, and navigating as a black woman living with a disability in the not-so-inclusive world. Khanyisile’s zest for life, openness, and unique perspective promise a funny-filled hour of stand-up. Catch this rising star on her way up! Khanysile’s comedy hopes to remind people, no matter who you are, in the words of Oscar Wilde “be yourself, everyone else is already taken”. With a mission to leave the audience with more willingness to live, laugh, be kind to each other, and believe in themselves, Khanyisile’s work-in-progress show is not to be missed!
