A journey through jazz, movement, and memory.

The Cape Town Jazz Train explores jazz as a living, breathing force that connects people, places, and histories. This experience takes you from Cape Town Station to Langa, where the rhythm of the rails give way to an afternoon of exceptional live performance.

The Journey Begins Before departure, guests will enjoy an exclusive pre- boarding experience at the PRASA Premium Lounge, complete with light snacks and complimentary Heineken hospitality. Connect with fellow jazz lovers before embarking on a train ride infused with live onboard performances.

Andile Yenana Sextet (3PM - 4PM)Pianist, composer, and jazz intellectual Andile Yenana presents a deeply personal tribute to the Ngcukana family, whose contributions to South African jazz remain foundational. This performance is both homage and continuation, a reflection on legacy through improvisation and innovation.

Benjamin Jephta Quintet – Celebrating 10 Years of “Homecoming” (4:30 PM - 5:30 PM)Acclaimed bassist and composer Benjamin Jephta marks the 10th anniversary of his ground-breaking debut album, Homecoming. This milestone performance revisits the album that introduced Jephta as a bold new voice in South African jazz, while showcasing how his sound has evolved over the past decade. Expect an electrifying set that bridges tradition with modern jazz sensibilities.

A Cultural Experience Beyond MusicThis is more than just a concert—it’s a celebration of jazz, history, and community. Upon arrival in Langa, guests can choose between a guided heritage walk through one of Cape Town’s most historic jazz hubs or a direct shuttle to Guga S’Thebe Cultural Center, where the afternoon unfolds.

At the venue, guests will be welcomed with complimentary Heineken hospitality, while the Friends of Jazz food market offers a curated selection of local cuisine available for purchase.
