Taste the Music: An Evening of Music and Wine PairingOn 30 October 2024, music and wine enthusiasts are invited to experience an unforgettable evening in the heart of Stellenbosch, where two of life’s greatest pleasures—exceptional wine and classical piano—are being brought together in perfect harmony. Hosted at Heuer Pianos on Dorp Street, this exclusive event promises to transport guests on a sensory journey through music and taste, with acclaimed pianist Roelof Temmingh and selected Ken Forrester Vineyard Wines.

A Perfect Pairing of Music and TasteThe evening’s program has been thoughtfully curated to offer guests a blend of both classical piano music and wine, with each piece of music paired with a specific wine cultivar to deepen the connection. Added to that, the different works will be played on different pianos as selected by Roelof Temmingh. The event opens with Beethoven’s Pastorale Sonata, a serene and earthy composition that will be paired with a calm, green wine: the Stained Glass Méthode Ancestrale Chenin Blanc 2022.Next, the audience will be treated to Suk’s About Mother, a poignant and intimate piece that evokes memories of childhood, family, and the innocence of youth. The Ken Forrester Petit Rosé 2024 wine will accompany this performance, reminiscent of springtime in the garden and the fleeting beauty of those tender moments. This very elegant Rosé overwhelms the nose with aromas of freshly picked strawberries, rose petal and cherry flavours. It follows through on the palate with delicious ripe raspberries with a delicate finish.

The evening will conclude with Scriabin’s Fantasy, a wild and passionate piece that is both tempestuous and intense. To match the fiery spirit of this composition, the Ken Forrester 2021 Renegade will be served, inviting the audience to immerse themselves fully in the intensity of the music and the moment. The Renegade is an elegant Rhône blend displaying Old World Style with New World fruit. The wine combines a hint of Grenache’s earthy rusticity and Shiraz’s noble spice with hints of nutmeg and salty black olive on the finish.
