Gerhard Joubert, one of South Africa’s most awarded young pianists, leaves SA next month for advanced academic study starting with a Masters in Performance at Basel Hochschule für Musik in Switzerland. Securing a placement at such a prestigious institution is an achievement in itself.

Gerhard will present works that most speak to him personally, and which he particularly wishes to share with the audience. He will announce each piece just before he plays it.

This recital takes place in a unique atmosphere surrounded by fine pianos at South Africa’s biggest restoration workshop at Ian Burgess-Simpson Pianos.

Recitals and a range of music activities are presented at IBSP on an entirely non-profit basis, with the objective of providing excellent opportunities for both performers and audience by recreating the format of an intimate recital, in which much of the great piano repertoire was originally composed.
