Friday Night Live is a series of beautiful, intimate performances from some of the most exciting talent Cape Town and South Africa has to offer, hosted at the KAYA Café. Friday Night Live is an event for performers to take in their own direction, creating an environment for audiences to engage deeply with the music, the meaning, and the people behind it all.

Senna-Marie is a Johannesburg-based songwriter and musician interested in the social habits of conflict and intimacy - human and otherwise ;) - her songs are shared first with her collaborator, friend and pianist Ryan Schultze [co- composer/producer] where together they carve out their sound: a fusion of playful rhythms, dreamy melodies and thoughtful lyricism, recalling ‘70s folk with an admiration for art-pop and jazz sensibilities.

In their fullest, Senna-Marie and Ryan perform regularly alongside drummer, Nicholas Bjorkman; bassist, Keegan Latham; trombonist, Athi Ngcaba and vocalist: Pamela King. The group are currently in-studio preparing their full length album set for release in early 2025. Their recent single: Golden (26 April 2023) captures the lush vocal harmonies, vulnerable lyricism and intricate arrangements of the full band. Preceding this, Senna-Marie and Ryan released their EP, Fence Sitter (March 2021| 4 tracks) marking their entry into the South African music scene with track 2: Lover’s Song, reaching 260K listens on spotify after being featured on the editorial playlists: SALT & Chilled Vibes.

Notable performances include Capital Craft Festival (Pretoria, 2024), The Half Moon (London, UK, 2023), Park Acoustics (Pretoria, 2023) & The Commons (Cape Town, 2023) alongside artists: Tubatsi Mpho Moloi, Ibhunga the council & Itai Hakim, with inspirations such as Hayley Heynderickx & Bjork.
