Friday Night Live is a series of beautiful, intimate performances from some of the most exciting talent Cape Town and South Africa has to offer, hosted at the KAYA Café. Friday Night Live is an event for performers to take in their own direction, creating an environment for audiences to engage deeply with the music, the meaning, and the people behind it all.

The Fence is an alternative rock band from Cape Town. With influences including grunge, hard rock, indie and jazz, their original tunes range from distorted punk rock jams to somber indie ballads - keeping a healthy blend of guitar-driven edge and sweeping vocals throughout.Drawing from artists such as Soundgarden, Nirvana and Led Zeppelin, their repertoire is curated for dynamic live shows that keep audiences on their feet. Comprised of four former jazz students with a passion for live performance, years of chemistry and a shared love for genre experimentation, their sets are always being reinvented with new twists.Whether they’re raising the roof with ripping solos or getting intimate with soulful ballads, one thing’s for certain - you’ll never hear anything like it anywhere else in Cape Town.

Playing alongside them will be Caffeinated, a newly formed indie band from Cape Town. Drawing inspiration from artists like Laufey, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Coldplay, their sound blends jazz rock grooves with indie pop sensibilities.Their five-piece lineup brings together piano, guitar, bass, drums and vocals for sets that move seamlessly between mellow, introspective moments and upbeat, rhythm-driven tracks. As engineering students who decided to follow their passion for music, they’re bringing fresh energy to the Cape Town scene.
