Improv Dojo with Thomas Dods
Sensei Dods - “pretty much a Johnny Lawrence type” - invites you into the Improv Dojo!
This workshop blends the philosophies of Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do Karate and applies them to improv.
We’ll strike first, own the scene, and still find balance - like a badass karate master who’s also done a bunch of underground improv shows over a snake pit.
Learn to be powerful and assertive in your approach like a king cobra, while also practicing contemplation and reflection like a zen master.
Cobra Kai teaches you to lead. Miyagi-Do teaches you to listen.Combine both and you’ll crush self-doubt. You’ll wax on, wax off… then kick that scene’s ass. Strike hard, flow smooth, and never, ever back down.
Improv is like karate: You gotta be ready to strike, but also know when to chill. You mess up? Who cares. Get up, throw another scene, and make it awesome.
In this dojo, you’ll stop thinking you’re just some punk and start believing you’re capable of some damn good improv.
Let’s do this.
Date: Saturday 15 November 2025Time: 10h00-14h00Kelvin Grove, 144 Campground Rd, NewlandsAge Restriction: 18yrs + Previous improv experience required.
