Cape Town’s house music family reunites this December for Back to the Old House: The Sunflower Sessions. An all-day celebration of rhythm, connection and community at Maroon, 226 Long Street. This iconic Cape Town event brings together the DJs, dancers and dreamers who built the city’s house music scene and kept its heartbeat alive.

Something powerful is happening in Cape Town again. Real, raw, and full of love. The kind of energy you don’t just hear — you feel. This is where connection, rhythm and community come together to remind us why we fell in love with house in the first place.

There was a time when house music meant unity. When we came together not to be seen, but for the scene. No one cared who you knew or what you wore. We showed up for each other, for the music, and for that feeling you could not find anywhere else.

We’re bringing that spirit back — the love, the connection, the freedom on the floor.And we’re taking it back to what was the heartbeat of Cape Town’s house scene — the place where it all began, Long Street.

Because it’s a public holiday, we’re starting at noon on the open-air rooftop. Like the sunflowers, we’re bringing positivity, love and light, carrying the grooves through the afternoon into magical sunset sessions with Table Mountain and the city glowing around us. As night takes over, we head inside and keep the energy flowing right through into the early hours.

Featuring the iconic DJs who made the scene — and the kindred souls who still live for that moment when everything else disappears and only the music remains.

The line up brings back the people who built the sound and carried it across the world. Peter Abrahams, Jazza, Dino Moran, Craig De Sousa, Lady M, Jody K, Rudi, Mamba, Dr Love, Matt Prehn, Matt Blitz and Roy Hendrix.

The day will also include surprise DJ’s and guests from the original movement, including a special live appearance by internationally acclaimed saxophonist Dan Shout.

No VIPs. No influencers. No bullshit.
