Helderberg Village is delighted to host Ensemble Strelitzia, featuring clarinettist Matthew Reid, cellist Jessica Bailey and pianist Sue Paterson- Jones, will present a concert of works by Brahms, Ravel, Poulenc, Schubert and Juon. Clarinettist and saxophonist Matthew Reid studied clarinet performance at UCT, London’s Royal College of Music and Goldsmith’s College. As a recitalist and free-lance musician, he has arranged the music for several shows and festivals in the country, including the Yiddish Song Festival at the Baxter Theatre, Aviva Pelham’s production of Santa’s Story and is the founder of Playing with Fire Balkan Gypsy Klezmer Band. He runs the monthly concert series at Christ Church Constantia. Cellist Jessica Bailey started cello at a young age with Betty Pack. She later studied with Pierre Fournier in Geneva and Joan Dickson at London’s Royal College of Music. She was a member of Evolution of 4, a string quartet based in Pretoria. Jessica is also a children’s book illustrator and an artist with numerous exhibitions to her name. Sue Patterson-Jones studied at UCT under Lamar Crowson and Albie van Schalkwyk, where she obtained her M. Mus in Performance cum laude. She took masterclasses at the Guildhall and then went to the University of North Texas to study under Van Cliburn winner Vladimir Viardo.
