Award-winning clown and comedian, and hit of the Edinburgh Fringe, Josh Glanc is teaching a one day clowning and comedy workshop in Cape Town: Don’t Be Funny. This is an ideal opportunity to learn from for a multi-award winning clown and performer, who’s performed on the Melbourne Comedy Festival Galas, Just For Laughs and been nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award. Perfect for all types of performers (clowns, comedians, stand-ups, improvisers) who want to sharpen their performing skills, be more present and free on stage and gain more insight into the world of clowning.
Learn how to be more open, present and real on stage. Don’t try to be funny. Just be with us, open and honest, let us see your inner idiot - embrace your sense of play and joy on stage. In this workshop, participants will be introduced to being sensitive to audience responses, listening deeply, and letting their true selves be seen. These essential skills are invaluable for stand-ups and improvisors, helping to create a genuine connection with audiences. Practice relaxing and being comfortable being seen on stage. No clowning experience needed. The workshop is most suited for performers (stand ups, circus performers, improvisers and sketch) but suitable to anyone who wants to feel more comfortable relaxed and confident on stage. Places are extremely limited!

About Clown TownAfter visiting the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for the last 2 years, Sophie Joans had a dream: to make clowning as popular in South Africa as it is “up North”. This unique style of comedy embraces the art of failure, and after hosting their first workshop in Dec 2024, Clown Town has grown into CPT’s unofficial clown school, with over 100 members in their ever-growing whatsapp group.Guided by the principle “the clown falls down so that we don’t have to”, and inspired by shows like STAMPTOWN, we bring you our first ever offering of all the ways we’ve learnt to fall, fail and create a royal f**k ups!
