“Freaks, geeks, queers, goths, weirdos and edgelords rejoice! PUNK PROM ’26 is upon us – now is your chance to live your PROM FANTASY, sans the chaperones, shitty music and lame theme.
This is your chance to reclaim your inner teenager! Bring your best friends so you can have your Romy and Michele moment, or bring your lover to make out with in the bathrooms, or just come by yourself and meet some radical like- minded people!
WHEN: FRIDAY 7 NOVEMBER 7PM ONWARDS
WHERE: EVOL, 69 Hope Street. Obviously
DRESS CODE: PUNK COUTURE
Break out your matric dance dress and cover it in safety pins or wear your dad’s suit or come naked covered in glitter. We don’t care. This is Punk Prom. However you want to interpret the theme is up to you, just remember we will be giving some special prizes to the most iconic looks of the evening <3
This year, we have a stellar lineup of artists and DJs to tickle your teenage dreams, including
- Pop Punk Princess MILA SMITH in her first performance with a LIVE BAND!
- Kakmal klanke from DIERBAAR
- Shoegaze shmooze from STATIC CAT
- Neurotic noise from hosts CISTAMATIC
- Befokde breakbeats by GENERAL BA
But wait! There’s more! This wouldn’t be a Punk Prom without….
- Prom Photobooth – local snapper Dominic Carling will be shooting Prom Portraits from 7 – 10pm – make you you arrive on time to avoid missing out!
- Amanda Pressed, Cape Town’s beardiest drag queen, will be MCing the event, including lipsynchs and crowning PROM ROYALTY for the best looks of the evening
- Progressive Punk Values – radical acceptance, kindness and respect for all human beings and a strong intolerance for anyone trying to fuck with that. Anyone, no matter what your gender, race, sexuality, music taste, whatever, is welcome at this party. We have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for violence, harassment and heavily inebriated shenanigans which put yourself and others at risk. You are more than welcome to enjoy your night in whichever way you fancy, but if your fun is making others uncomfortable, you will be asked to leave – so mosh responsibly and report any issues to security.
PUNK PROM is for everybody who wants to be part of it. Just dress up, show up, be nice and let’s DANCE!”
