The Cape Winds is an ensemble that consists of 50 semi-professional and
advanced amateur musicians. It is the typical community symphonic wind band.
Their concert on Sunday 19/10 at the Hugo Lambrechts Auditorium includes a
work for Percussion ensemble, Prokofiev’s well-loved Peter and the Wolf, as
well as The 3 Bears Fantasy; all with narration by famous SA actor and movie
star Rob van Vuuren. Other works include The Symphonic Gershwin, a Solo for
Tuba played by Craig Nicholas and a few lighter items such as Crazy for
Cartoons and Jitterbug, a collection of different styles of big-band jazz.
