The Birth of the Art Catwalk
Kunst in de Kas in the Netherlands pioneered a unique event: the Art Catwalk, the “first art show on the red carpet.” This world premiere brought artists into the spotlight in a new way. No fewer than 26 artists — all dressed in black and/or white — showcased their work on the red carpet. On stage, they explained their creations. It is surely no coincidence, we believe, that the paths of the Knysna Arts Society (KAS) and Kunst in de Kas have now coincided.
Tickets are limited for this glamorous, first-of-its-kind event in South Africa. Presented in the style of a fashion show, the evening will see artists parading down a red carpet with their artworks. The pieces will then be displayed on easels for attendees to admire and purchase. Guests can look forward to fine wine tasting and gourmet catering.
Corlie de Kock of the Knysna Fine Art Gallery will act as selector and curator for this prestigious event. A narrator or MC/ video will be made to explain the artists’ mission statements and artwork.
