The Cape Consort in collaboration with St Martini and under the direction of Hans Huyssen presents a Lent Consort with Sacred Baroque Music and visiting counter tenor Philipp Mathmann and Antoinette Huyssen as soloists. The concert forms part of the Music @ St Martini series, which aims to establish the historic St Martini church as a regular venue for the performance of a diversity of sacred music.

Antoinette Huyssen needs no introduction to Cape Town audiences, who know her as founding member of the Cape Consort, soloist in numerous oratorio performances director of the Cape Town Chamber Choir and most recently as Cape Town opera chorus master. She shares he stage with Philipp Mathmann, a sought- after German countertenor and sopranist, who not only has a highly successful international career as an opera singer and Early Music specialist, but is also a practicing ENT specialist and Honorary Research Affiliate at UCT. In press reviews he has been described as “man for the extreme heights. Especially in the soprano regions, where the air becomes thin, his head voice blossoms and acquires a radiance about which one can only marvel.”
