Dignity in Motion – A Ballroom Dance Production

After five months of dedicated training and rehearsal, clients from The Haven Night Shelter are ready to take the stage and showcase their talent in a moving and transformative theatre production. This project has been a journey of healing, empowerment, and the restoration of dignity for participants, using the performing arts as a medium for personal growth and expression.

The performance takes the audience on a metaphorical and emotional journey—from displacement and despair to rediscovery, healing, and belonging. Each scene uses ballroom dance as a storytelling tool, reflecting stages of life and emotions such as loneliness, struggle, connection, and trust. The finale emerges as a triumphant celebration of human dignity and collective resilience, leaving a lasting impression of hope and possibility.

The production is directed by Jaco Maree, who brings over 23 years of experience using the performing arts for development, education, therapy, and awareness.
