More on the Artist:

Born in Johannesburg, Khota’s musical journey began in the 1980s when his father introduced him to the guitar. Under the guidance of Jeremy Karodia, he commenced formal training at just ten years old, mastering rock and classical guitar, as well as chord theory. His passion for music was further ignited by Faizel Boorany, who nurtured his love for experimental jazz, classical avant- garde, and progressive guitar.

Khota’s academic prowess is equally impressive. He pursued his B.Mus degree at Wits University, refining his classical guitar skills under David Hewitt’s tutelage. He also had the privilege of learning from luminaries like Norwegian guitarist Vegard Lund and Austrian crossover guitarist/composer Helmut Jasbar. A recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including Samro bursaries and merit awards, Khota’s talent shone brightly in 1998 when he won first prize in the National Classical Guitar Competition, adjudicated by the celebrated Czech guitarist/composer Stepan Rak. He later received valuable master-classes from this maestro. Khota’s academic achievements culminated in a Master’s degree with distinction from Wits University.

With his remarkable background and expertise, Khota brings a unique dimension to this captivating trio, blending seamlessly with Jonno Sweetman and Nic Williams to create an unforgettable musical experience.
