Zimsto eRoofini is a multifaceted artist from Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, who has been weaving a unique sonic tapestry that blends traditional Afrika sounds with modern styles. Born into a spiritual family, Zimsto’s fascination with indigenous sounds began at a young age, inspired by the heritage games she played as a child.

As she grew older, Zimsto’s musical journey took her through various genres, including Kwaito and Reggae in the early 2000s. She soon discovered her passion for composing music, initially using a guitar as her primary instrument. This led her to work with a band, which ultimately gave birth to her distinctive sound, now known as “Indigenous Sounds of Afrika.” It was during this period that she met her mentor, Bongani Tulwana aka KoraX, who played a significant role in shaping her artistic vision.
With years of performing experience under her belt, Zimsto eRoofini has shared stages with renowned national and international artists at festivals, corporate gigs, municipal events, charity functions, and club scenes. Her versatility as an artist has allowed her to seamlessly transition between different settings, always leaving a lasting impression on her audiences. Zimsto’s latest production, “Goduka,” is a testament to her dedication to preserving Afrika’s rich cultural heritage. This production features a rich tapestry of Afrika sounds, with Zimsto singing in her native language 89% of the time. Accompanied by her band, she skillfully plays the uHadi and guitar, creating an immersive experience that transports listeners to the heart of Afrika.
Beyond her music, Zimsto eRoofini is a talented storyteller and writer, often incorporating her stories into her performances. She has also worked with children’s theatre, using her platform to preserve tradition and language. Currently based in Cape Town, Zimsto has collaborated with various artists, producers, and sounds, both locally and internationally. As a performer and entertainer, Zimsto eRoofini’s stage presence is nothing short of captivating. Her energy, passion, and dedication to her craft have earned her a loyal following, and she continues to inspire audiences with her unique sound and artistic vision. With “Goduka” poised to take the music scene by storm, Zimsto eRoofini is an artist to watch, and her contribution to the preservation of Afrika’s cultural heritage is a gift to be cherished.
