About the band:MEDU (pron. mee-doo) – meaning ‘roots’ in sePedi, is a new music project showcasing a fusion of traditional and jazz elements. It takes inspiration from South African rhythms and melodies – from San sounds to township jazz.

While taking shape in 2014, MEDU has its roots in the expertise of seasoned musos and emerging artists. Founded by jazz pianist Stanley Sello, and featuring the vocals of African music exponent Nomapostile Nyiki, MEDU capitalises on the skills of a core collaboration, while regularly featuring other talents.

With sparkling renditions of South African standards and traditional tunes, plus their own compositions, MEDU is fast gaining an enthusiastic following.
