KOZO ZWANE
Ntokozo Zwane, also known as Kozo Zwane, is a Live music performance artist from Johannesburg. Primarily known as a singer-songwriter and guitarist, he practices in a variety of genres. His music is heavily influenced by folk writing, South African Jazz and AmaZioni. The sound he makes is grounded in prayer and carried by folk melodies and writing.
His love for sonic experimentation has led him to the scoring of internationally acclaimed short films, creating a sound track for a fashion show at SA Fashion week 2022, opening a number of gallery exhibitions at establishments like Fede Arthouse and the Melrose Gallery and most recently he has had a hand in theatre production scoring, working two theatre productions by TheatreDuo.
He has performed on a variety of stages in and around Cape Town and Johannesburg, collaborating with acts such as Muneyi, Kujenga and Internet Athi, most notably he has opened for Alice Phoebe Lou at the Baxter and had a solo performance at RMB Latitudes art fair In 2024. After almost a year away from the Cape, Kozo Zwane will be welcoming spring with a show at Athletic Club & Social. Supported by pianist Nkosinathi Matomela, the show is an invitation to the audience to bridge the gap between simply hearing and intentionally listening. Inspired by his words of welcome “to those who hear, feel and understand” this night will be adorned by communal singing and a spiritually charged array of new music written in the past year from Kozo Zwane.
