A photograph is not a photograph (unless you are holding it in your hands) is a live storytelling event where selected photographers describe the story of how one of their photographs was made and then explain the process of creating the physical print of the image.
In an age where we have become accustomed to consuming images on small screens for a few short seconds, this event attempts to wrest back and re-enliven the power of the photographic medium by taking the audience along on the photographer’s journeys and by revealing some of the technical choices and skills required to make the final photographic print.
This inaugural event is part of the Cape Town Photography Festival https://capetownphotofest.co.za/
Eight selected photographers will each speak for exactly 8 minutes.
A darkroom printing timer will be used to measure the time.
When : 18:30 on Friday 26 September
Where : The Bijou Project Space, 178 Lower Main Road, Observatory
Tickets : R250 per person
