The Masi Violin Outreach : Legacy Ensemble

Based in the vibrant community of Masiphumelele, this ensemble is composed of talented young alumni from the Masi Violin Outreach program, aged 18 to 25. Each member has graduated from the program and now serves as both a musician and a mentor, giving back to their community through music education and inspiring the next generation of performers.

The ensemble represents the culmination of years of dedication to music and personal growth. Through their training, these musicians have developed not only exceptional technical skills but also a deep understanding of the cultural and communal impact of music. They perform a dynamic repertoire that blends classical masterpieces with traditional African melodies and contemporary compositions, reflecting their diverse musical influences and unique backgrounds.

As part of their mission to uplift and inspire, the Legacy Ensemble has embarked on a community tour, bringing their talent and heart to audiences across Cape Town. This tour has been a true celebration of music’s versatility and joy, showcasing the incredible talents of the Legacy Ensemble while giving back to the community in meaningful ways. Along the journey, the ensemble has shared their skills and passion by hosting a workshop at Bridges for Music in Langa, inspiring budding musicians with hands-on mentorship and guidance. They’ve also performed at various non-profits, using their music to uplift and connect with diverse audiences, spreading hope and positivity wherever they go.
