Join us for the 4th annual Power of Peace Talk at the historic Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation, located in the Old Granary Building on Buitenkant Street, Cape Town. This year, we are honoured to feature the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Leymah Gbowee, as our distinguished speaker.
This year’s panel promises a dynamic and insightful conversation, as Leymah Gbowee will be joined by two leading South African specialists for children’s and women’s rights. Tarisai Mchuchu-MacMillan, Executive Director of Mosaic Training Service & Healing Centre for Women & Advocate, brings a wealth of experience in empowering women and communities. Christina Nomdo, South Africa’s first-ever Children’s Commissioner and a renowned Social Justice Specialist, adds her voice and expertise to the discussion.
Together, these distinguished panelists will share their perspectives on advancing social justice and protecting vulnerable groups, making this year’s Power of Peace Talk a truly significant gathering.
Leymah Gbowee was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2011, alongside Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Tawakkol Karman, for her pivotal role in mobilising women to challenge war and injustice. Her grassroots efforts, particularly the Women of Liberia Mass Action for Peace campaign, demonstrated the transformative power of collective action and the crucial role women play in conflict resolution and peacebuilding. Gbowee’s courageous leadership and unwavering advocacy have inspired movements for peace and justice around the world.
