PERFORM | TEACH | CREATE – the three pillars that define our training at WTS. And in the words of Maya Angelou: “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”

It’s That Time of Year Again—Join Us in Celebrating Creativity at WTS!

This festival is a celebration of artistry and originality, and provides our students with the opportunity to develop their unique skills as creative entrepreneurs. At WTS, we believe that the ability to create is just as vital as the ability to perform. That’s why we’re passionate about equipping our students not only with performance skills but also with the tools to direct, choreograph, and produce their own work—ensuring they leave as multi-skilled artists ready for the industry.

The Choreographic Competition showcases original choreography across Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Tap, Ballet, Jazz, and Street Dance, and highlights the next generation of visionary choreographers.

Award Categories include: Best Choreographer (Solo, Trio/Quartet, Group in each genre), Best Novice Choreographer, Best Overall Choreographer, Most Outstanding Male & Female Dancer, Outstanding Overall Performance, and the Full House Award (recognising Music, Casting, Choreography, Costume & Staging).

And once again, this year YOU can also be the judge. Apart from the wide range of awards adjudicated by a team of high-profile choreographers and industry professionals, we have added the People’s Choice Award, which will allow you, the audience, to vote for your favourite routine.

Last year’s overall winner, Hannah van Lennep, recently made her professional debut in Richard Loring’s African Footprint in Dubai. Previous winners include London-based Thalia Burt, who made her West End debut at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. She was the Resident Choreographer and Director for the musical Cats and the Associate Choreographer for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; Rushney Ferguson, a Fleur du Cap-nominated actress for her performance in David Kramer’s production Langarm, as well as for her powerful portrayal of Kitty Jaftha in Ver In Die Wêreld Kittie; and Sonwabiso Sakuba, who toured with the international production of The Lion King in Spain.

Come and support our creatives of the future from 7-11 May at the Lane Theatre and celebrate the next generation of choreographers.
