Dié kategorie wat gevestigde filmmakers befondsing en ’n geleentheid bied om hul vakmanskap ten toon te stel, is vir die tweede jaar deel van die fees. ’n Voorwaarde vir deelname aan hierdie kategorie is dat die filmmakers ook minder ervare tegniese spanlede moet mentor.

This category, which offers established filmmakers funding and a platform to showcase their craft at the festival, is part of the festival for the second time this year. A condition for participation in the category is that the filmmakers mentor less-experienced team members.

Noa en Mira is in ’n ruimtetuig na Mars met ’n swaar verantwoordelikheid wat op hulle skouers rus: Die voortbestaan van die mensdom hang van hulle twee af. Samewerking is dus van deurslaggewende belang, maar om saam vasgekeer te wees in ’n skip wat deur die buitenste ruim snel, plaas geweldige druk op enige verhouding. En daar’s baie bagasie wat ’n mens op pad na ’n nuwe begin saamdra. Gaan Noa en Mira hul sending kan voltooi? Of is daar geen hoop vir hierdie duo en dienooreenkomstig die res van ons nie?

Noa and Mira are in a spacecraft bound for Mars, bearing a heavy responsibility on their shoulders: the survival of humanity depends on them. Cooperation is therefore crucial, but being trapped together in a ship hurtling through outer space puts heavy strain on any relationship. And there’s a lot of baggage one carries on the journey to a new beginning. Will Noa and Mira complete their mission? Or is there no hope for this duo – and, by extension, the rest of us?

Die elfjarige Tyrone, ’n outistiese seun, vind troos deur te skilder – ’n band wat hy en sy oorlede ma gedeel het. “Soek my tussen die kwashale,” het sy gesê, en hierdie woorde spook by hom en lei hom na ’n wêreld waar herinneringe leef in kleur op doek. By die huis is sy ma se afwesigheid soos ’n onvoltooide skildery. Sy pa, verteer deur verdriet, maak die deur na haar ateljee toe en verbied hom om in te gaan, maar vir Tyrone is dit die laaste plek waar hy sy ma se teenwoordigheid nog kan voel. Vasgevang tussen sy behoefte om gehoorsaam te wees aan sy pa en sy hunkering om haar naby te hou, verloor Tyrone homself in sy kuns. In sy verbeelding word die skilderye tot lewe verwek. Elke kwashaal word ’n stille daad van hoop, weerstand en genesing – ’n bewys dat liefde selfs in stilte en afwesigheid helder kan straal, ingeweef in die kleure van sy wêreld.

Eleven year old Tyrone, an autistic boy, finds solace in painting – a bond he shared with his late mother. “Find me between the brushstrokes,” she said, and these words haunt him and guide him into a world where memories live on in colour on canvas. At home, his mother’s absence lingers like an unfinished painting. His father, consumed by grief, closes the door to her art studio forbidding him to enter, but to Tyrone it’s the last place his mother’s presence still feels real. Torn between obeying his father and holding onto her, Tyrone pours himself into his art, entering a realm where his paintings come alive. Each brushstroke an act of quiet resistance and healing, proving that even in silence and absence, love can still be vividly alive, painted into the very fabric of his world.
